Crocheted Berry Scarf by Si3art Crocheted Berry Scarf by Si3art
:bulletpink:Textile course "Structure and material" Scarf project
:bulletpink:Materials: acrylic yarn Steinbach Wolle Rübezahl (pink, beige, cream, grass green), hook size 4, stuffed with polyester batting
:bulletpink:Time: during 3 days

Well, hello there~

I look derpy as ever and here is one of my recent college projects~ :la:
The evaluations are in a few days and I have no idea what the teachers would think of this... Thing. They absolutely despised my previous scarf idea... -.-

Meep.

Yea, we had to make a comfortable, wearable structured scarf what could be mass produced and completed in a few days+ a detailed tutorial how to make it. I... I guess I wont post that tut over here once Im done with that tho... It has way too many mistakes in it and Im lucky if the teachers wont notice it. Hah. ^^;
And Im sure all of you knitters/crocheters out there understand how simple this thing is xD

Oh! And the scarf was actually pretty warm. Need a hat tho. :giggle:

Because.... it's not translated, probably a bit flawed and right now I really don't have the time for that.... :saddummy:

But you can always make an "inspired by this" version yourself. :meow:

What an insane class! But I love the scarf. Is it just me, or are there green leaves there too? I can't tell. I would definitely wear this, and the colors you chose are gorgeous. Does it lie straight? How did you attach the balls together? I wish you would share the tutorial with us, too.

How did the teachers react to this? What was your previous idea? I'm curious!

What a great scarf.

Haha~ What a curiousl lil' fella indeed. :giggle:

Well, gotta say, everybody's scarfs looked marvelous and creative...
Yup, the back side is filled with "green leaves" and its all connected with the green yarn from the back side. Basicly when it's lied down, yup, then it is straight and connected on the one side to other with the smaller "berries" through the green yarn crocheted chains.

I've been thinking about it. Sharing the tutorial I mean. But not just jet. :XD:

Theachers? Hmmhahaha~ Weeeeelll~ First they didn't like the colour combination and second they didn't like this thing as a scarf at all. Too... "Naturalistic" as they saied. :XD:

One of my previous ideas was to make the scarf out from black n white crotcheted motives- as a bolero sized thing with a hoodie. That idea was stomped right there. :|

Meh. Right.

Thanks for the comment tho!

Looks very interesting from what can be seen of it in the picture. And the picture itself is pretty good too.

Post what the teachers say about it, I'm interested because that pattern looks easily marketable, you should be able to sell it quite quickly. Make sure that your school doesn't have a clause that grants them full rights to all of your work, many schools do which is unfortunate.

Good luck, I hope that those mistakes aren't glaringly obvious.

Mmm... What the teachers said about it?... Well... Basicly, the most "positive" comment about it was that they liked that beige coat. -.-

Overall they didnt like the basics of it- some thought a scarf like this would cover half of your face (as not a good thing), most didnt like the colour combination (it can be better next time? Tho... I was trying to go with a pastel sweet theme) and the biggest flaw- too naturalistic.

Meep. I guess I kind of missed the theme too. Basicly I croceted 'motives' and then connected them, but the task was to create a 3d surface (and they all expected knitted surfaces -.-)

Well, as for the pattern, the "berries" are super easy to make- there are only two sizes, just in 3 different shades and you have to make hell of a lot of them... The confusing part is the ordered connecting (tho I think the pattern I wrote down is pretty logical now). The second version would be to make enough berries and then "free crochet" them together. c:

Hah... I would post that pattern for free over DA if anyone ask for it.

Ugh... Okay... Thats one hell of a long reply~ :dummy:
Sorry about that. ^^;

Bah, that's not a long reply, rather succinct and I appreciate it. Sorry to hear about the whole 3d surfaces snafu, but I would contend that if those berries are attached to a surface, they are themselves the 3d surface on a larger scale than was expected. And did they as for an industrial style? I dont see an issues with being naturalist if that's not something specified.

As for a problem with covering half the face, do these teachers know 2 shits about fashion? Most people actually like to cover half their face due to feeling shy, or heck even because its cold outside. I highly recommend submitting this as is to a few magazines. Don't post the pattern for free just yet. Make sure that you are still in retention of the rights to your own work like I mentioned before, I have had people in the past that have been bitten in the butt due to a schools copyright and intellectual works clauses.

Just a few examples, vogue would be the best to get it in obviously, and since its the holiday season it would probably fit in better. If you can't find a magazine interested (its a neat design really, submit it, someone will love it) give me a heads up and I'll show it to some friends and family in design.

Good luck

Mmm... Well, this pice is fairly simply done- basicly single, double crochets and chains. :giggle:
But I think even beginners should be able to this :meow:
Its just the way I try to explain the stitches order can be confusing. xD
