Gingerbread Dragon by Si3art Gingerbread Dragon by Si3art
The New Years Mechanic~

:bulletblue:Contests:
:star:"Piparkoogi maania 2011" ("Gingerbread Mania 2011") [link] (about the contest & other entries in the same category)
:trophy: Results: 1st place
:star: "The most beautiful gingerbread 2011" by ’htuleht [link]
:bulletblack: Results: nothing. ;p I cant belive the winner was decided through how high the pics were rated... I mean... It was possible to give multiple votes for yourself and rate down others. :<
:bulletblue:Size: the tray ⌀30cm, height to horns 19cm
:bulletblue:Time: ~68 hours during 2 weeks + 4 hours on the barely noticable clock drawing on the tray
:bulletblue:Ingredients:
~600g gingerbread
~200g caramel candy
~300g glaze
+crushed peanuts and chocolate sprinkles
eyes are made of crushed blue M&M's

Honestly... I feel a bit guilty for having to compete in the 11-18 year old category... D: I mean... The things what a 11 year old and 18 year old make isnt that... Comparable. :/

Yeaa.... So THIS is what Ive been keeping myself busy with for the last two weeks. :dummy:

Wanted to make sth different from all the regular over-glazed ginger houses. ;p

Basically, this is made out of lil ginger cubes and sticked together with *lotsandlotsandlots* of CARAMEL! :la: + filled with cocoa glaze. First made it in three bigger parts and then connected them together with *hellofalotmore* caramel. Thats why the body is so... square-ish. :I

Mmm~ The decorating part was my favorite~ Can you tell? :D

Details~

Happy Dragons Year!

The best part is it also still looks yummy/edible....some cakes people make are cool, but totally don't look like something I'd want to eat afterwards...like they used stuff that wasn't meant to be eaten to decorate it.

Heh, thanks~ :meow:

Hmm, welp I guess it depends then, I've seen some epicly amazing cakes that have all been made out of edible ingredients, only thing is, I could never imagine myself eating those masterpieces.... xD
(heck, theres even a tv show about making cakes for special events that show how they were made right from the start and later peeps comment how delicious everything is. Or maybe it's just the tv guys asking them to say something nice in front of the camera, ahahaha)

I do think they are technically edible (though some I seen online I really questioned lol...there was no way such stable materials were edible XD), but I don't really think they are particularly good for us :P. I mean, a slice or two would be one thing....but eating a huge cake full of artificially made stuff makes me think of how sick I would feel (I have a hard time eating that really cheap white icing found on grocery store cakes....but I can eat a lot of chocolate-anything lol)

There are 2 shows I saw on tv where they competed in the kitchen to make the best cake using a theme like Disney for example. Those were pretty interesting to watch, if I had cable I would look them up still (not quite relevant, but you should check out the show about really neat homes they find around the world...it is pretty awesome).

Whoa! Where did you get the skill set? Wow!
I have to ask, how did you bring yourself to eat this after working on it for 2 weeks?

Dammit I wrote a long reply but seems I didnt hit enter and now it's all gone.... all gone... T^T

But actually no. I did eat the experimental pieces and those were delicious~
But nope, didn't dare to eat the dragon. ._.

It was put up for display at several places and in the end it just went stale and broke in 3... So now it's thrown away.
