Cosplay of Mistral, from the game Metal Gear Rising.
Some more pics at my fb album-> www.facebook.com/silvia.sillao…
Beware of the photobomber cords and wires.
The last two weeks I've been up until ~4.am. Every.Day. WHEN WILL THIS NIGHTMARE ENDDDDD? D:>
I didn't have a proper summer because of this. >:I
My very first cospaly choise for this year was actually Geth Prime (mass effect3), because I just loveeee the armor design, but around ~20 July I realised... That I don't care about this game. At all. It just came out on PlayStation Plus too and then it was clear...
If I'll make a cosplay, then it shall be of a character who has an epic desing and comes from a game I absolutely love.
And oh my gosh Mistral~ I.L.U.~ Such an epic smexed up character full of Metal Gear'ish details~ And ohohoo those hands~ I wanted to do Screaming Mantis last year, but Mistral... Dayum~ 8D
Also, don't have better pics of this costume... Jet. But I have planned a photoshoot... In the very near future. 8D
Uhh.... This is one of 'dem cosplays that started out as a fun cosplay project for the love of the character design+game and is an absolute pain to complete. I wonder why most peeps don't mention the "blood, sweat and tears" part... Especially with big detailed, time consuming cosplays like this... Maybe it's just me then... Yeah, that's gotta be it. I'M SO FED UP.
And the damn strap under the breast kept slipping down. >>>:((((
URRGGGGGHHHH! I completed the body/catsuit part in 3 days (only three days, can you even belive it?! : o) and been making those damn hands all this time. DEM HANDS. I love hands tho. <3
These are made in the papier mache way- from newspapers and white glue, filled with makroflex (expansive foam?) and the elbow joints move a little. The hands are removable- the whole connection thingamajig was done with bottles and bottlecaps. Jep.
Not the best idea. IT TOOK ALMOST TWO HOURS TO SCREW ALL THOSE HANDS TO THE BACK THING >:U
Made this for Animatsuri 2013 Eurocosplay qualifiers contest, and... I won~ So, I'm the estonian qualifier and maybe some of you will see me at London expo in october~ Again~ 8D
Also trying to do the armpole and one dwarf geko And oh gosh, you have no idea how much space all the hands take... D:<
HAAAAHHHHHH.... Yeah. This is one of them love-n-hate costumes.
-Next time, don't make a cosplay with 7 pairs of prop hands.
(Did ya take a picture with me or were you.... maybe one of those who gave a random hug? x'D)
And I always love getting messages like " oh, hey, you're that gal over there, right, I saw you in dat cosplay"~
I heard later that there was one girl who was looking forward to get a pic with me in that cosplay... but she never saw me at that day. : /
Buuut, yeah, I made the arms and model here is me~
All MGS games have super designs (and I just love those little bar codes and texts everywhere), but as soon as I saw Mistral, I just knew I HAD to make a proper cosplay of her and those arms looked so tempting to make~
Oh gosh... Impressive gallery, mate! Especially the newest creations! Got my cosplay senses all tingling... Gosh, those insect/alien armor designs... Haha, yes, I can see MGR in them.
Hah, I like the little texts, barcodes and such too, wonder why that is... I really don't know, but those tiny details somehow add something slick and modern to the designs.
Thanks! yeah, I got majorly inspired by MGRR, so I did the Cyborg... all inspired and stuff, and yeah, it was a fun design.
My bug mecha things, they just had to jump out of this head of mine somehow, love designing those.
Emm... No, I won't make a tutorial, but I will post wip pics and explain a bit what exactly where I did, and if you want, you can always ask for advice. You know where to find me, neh? I'm right here~ 8DD
Basicly, the arms are made of newspapers and white glue, painted black and covered with fabric, connected to the backpack with tubes and bottles- the bottle is inside the arm and bottlecap inside the tube at the back. The heels/backback/all the prop plastic pices are made of camping mat and heatformed clear plastic, hotglued it all together.
That was my first idea btw... To make the hands move one their own... But the electronics/ little motors/servos can cost quite fortune and overall, it didn't work out... But the arms still move from the elbow joints, so whenever I walked in this, or better jet, bend foward, then the arms moved along the way~
But thank you!
As usual, such an impressive cosplay and many kudos to you. Color detail on the pants, and the back of the arm-holder are fantastic. Not to forget that the mask-like part under Mistral's face looks great.
That's incredible! I can't even comprehend how you made this with all the structural detail! Congrats on the win and good luck in the next competition!
All bottlecaps ovah there~
But thank you~ Thanks a lot!
